I don’t even know how to introduce these stories anymore. It seems every week or so, Disney tosses another live action movie onto their slate tied to one of their classic films, and the list has grown to be quite staggering. “The Jungle Book,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Mulan,” “Tinker Bell,” “Dumbo,” “Winnie the Pooh,” “Night on Bald Mountain,” and “Prince Charming,” are all brewing and now another is here, and sure to cause some heartache.

THR reports that Disney is now working on a live-action prequel to the Oscar winning 1992 classic “Aladdin.” A massive smash hit that spawned a couple of direct-to-video sequels and a TV series, anyone who was a kid at that time can tell you what the movie meant to them. And in a movie that will surely make Robin Williams turn over in his grave, the story for the prequel will explain how the Genie got into the lamp, with the plan to lead into a live action “Aladdin” movie.
Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who have previously teamed on “Freddy vs. Jason” and the “Friday The 13th” remake, are the unlikely writers on this project. It’s a whole new world indeed….
Disney\’s hitting rock bottom at this point. Its buddies Pixar and Marvel should be helping it check into creative rehab.
PR disaster waiting to happen.
