Got a Tip?

Directors: Baltasar Kormákur, Anton Corbijn And More Line Up New Projects

nullViking movies have been a tough nut to crack for Hollywood. Mel Gibson has been trying for years, and Alexander Skarsgard has had one in the works for a while, but it looks like Baltasar Kormákur will beat the competition to the punch with his "Vikingr" (yes, that’s how it’s spelled). The filmmaker, who also co-wrote the script, has set up the movie over at Universal, and it’s based on the classic tales deriving from the legendary Icelandic Sagas, which document larger than life heroes, adventures and battles of early Nordic settlers, as well as daily life in the Viking age. This is expected to be Kormákur’s next gig after the upcoming "Everest."

"Kill Your Darlings" director John Krokidas is drinking from the YA cup, as he’s been set to helm "Wonder." Based on the book by R.J. Palacio, it follows "a 10-year-old named Auggie Pullman, whose facial difference has kept him from going to a mainstream school. Now he’s entering fifth grade at Beecher Prep and just wants to fit in, but he’ll have to teach everyone around him that, as always, we are more than meets the eye." Aww. [THR]

As we wait his forthcoming "Life" starring Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan, Anton Corbijn has knocked out a couple quick films on the side. The filmmaker has directed the concert movie "Depeche Mode Live In Berlin," as well as the doc "Alive In Berlin," both chronicling the band’s back-to-back performances at the o2 World in Berlin, Germany last November. The films and live album will both be available in stores on November 17th. [Consequence Of Sound]
