Got a Tip?

Director McG Hints That Schwarzenegger Will Appear In ‘Terminator Salvation’; Michael Bay Testosterone Beef Brewing

Last night Warner Bros. had a preview screening of “Terminator: Salvation” in New York hosted by director McG that showed clips from the film, meant to tease and hype up bloggers (gee, thanks for the invite WB).

The major “reveal,” that McG gave was a hint that original Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger would make an appearance in this prequel reboot starring Christian Bale.

According to E!, when the filmmaker was asked about surprises in store for the movie, McG apparently winked and said, “I can’t talk about it. I can’t talk about the governor of California.”

Gee, that was subtle [ed. much like his films, huh?]

Meanwhile, one of Hollywood’s most congenial directors, original “Terminator” director James Cameron told McG he is tenderly looking forward to his version of the Terminator franchise. “[Cameron] sort of nodded and said, ‘Look I reserve the right to like it or not like it.’…I said, ‘Fair enough…I want the film to speak for itself at all times.’ He nodded and we shook hands,” McG told the New York crowd last night and said he’s set to show Cameron a rough cut in two weeks.

The new cast includes, Anton Yelchin, Sam Worthington (also starring in Cameron’s upcoming 3-D sci-fi epic “Avatar”), Moon Bloodgood, Common, Bryce Dallas Howard, Helena Bonham Carter and sci-fi vet Michael Ironside. McG described Danny Elfman’s score as “Wagner by way of John Williams.”

The Michael Bay Beef Begins
Meanwhile, McG and macho, energy-drink enthusiast Michael Bay are embroiled in a sort of war of words. Michael Bay apparently made a dig on his message boards at McG’s large-sized Terminator models suggesting they were ripping off his “Transformer” robots (which were of course modelled off childrens toys in the ’80s his design team never constructed). “We’ve seen certain movies coming out even trying to duplicate Transformer size robots in their ads,” Bay wrote.

McG addressed Bay’s comments last night as well.

“It bothers me to tell you the truth. Ultimately, our large robots have nothing to do with the Transformers robots. I say with respect, giant robots have been the theme of film for a real long time. So we want to do everything we can to create separation. Our film’s about T-800s and the Marcus character and the Connor character, and this, that, and the other. So, to have people have a problem with that wouldn’t be working for us so we want to make sure there’s separation.”

Frankly, we were hoping for the triple shot of Red Bull response while watching “Charlie’s Angels” in IMAX, not this “with all due respect” tail between our legs responss. C’mon McG are you a modern day action director or what the fuck?
