Diane Keaton Says “Woody Allen Is My Friend And I Continue to Believe Him”; Judd Apatow Responds

You’re not going to find too many people in Hollywood defending Woody Allen at the moment, at least not openly. The filmmaker has seen several of his collaborators past and present distance themselves from the director, in the wake of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement, and Dylan Farrow‘s detailed allegation of sexual assault. So far, only Alec Baldwin has defended Allen, but now another voice has spoken out in support of the director.

Allen’s former partner and longtime muse, Diane Keaton, has hit Twitter with a simple statement defending the filmmaker. In addition, the actress included a “60 Minutes” interview with Allen from 1992, after the allegation first made headlines around the world.

However, it didn’t take long for blowback on Keaton’s comments to occur, with Judd Apatow chiming in with his thoughts on the Allen saga, and what he believes was the director’s cruelty to his family.

Allen’s next picture, “A Rainy Day In New York” is currently in post-production. It’s scheduled to be released by Amazon Studios, however, there are rumblings that with the recent storm of press around the director, they may end up dumping the picture.

  1. Is the Soon-Yi affaire questionable? Sure it is. But who the hell is Apatow to judge? Self-righteous Apatow giving moral lessons while staying quiet on Franco (a man with multiple accusers unlike Allen).

Self-righteous Apatow should read what Moses Farrow and Soon Yi Previn have to say about growing up with Mia Farrow as a mother. Does he know two of her children have committed suicide?

Self-righteous Apatow should stick to his mediocre films and in the process learn from Allen’s.

Oh and by the way… leave Diane Keaton alone.

  2. Since when is it wrong to stand by your friends?
Is this that new standard I care not for?

Hypocrites, those that suddenly feel it’s wrong to work with him,
the story that caused that decision isn’t new.
They’re now the great actors that don’t need him any more?

What I hear isn’t enough to judge Allen on.
Not great to date your daughter (or something) but she approves for over 20 years now?

We all have concern ourselves with our own lives for I bet Apatow worked happily with some known molesters or other criminals.
