Sorry, the summer of superheroes isn’t over yet. The multiplex spend the season giving us a variety of Marvel and DC properties, and now Netflix will deliver another in “The Defenders.” The long-awaited team-up of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist is here, and we’ll soon see if collectively this series can succeed where some of the standalone shows have disappointed.
Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones comprise of the titular team, with Sigourney Weaver getting villainous, and Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple, Simone Missick’s Misty Knight, and Elodie Yung’s Elektra rounding out the supporting roles. As for the plot, our team of super friends will have to save New York, obviously. Here’s the official synopsis:
Marvel’s The Defenders follows Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones), a quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
“The Defenders” hits Netflix on August 18th.
