Got a Tip?

‘Deadpool’ Director Tim Miller Discussed Turning Negasonic Teenage Warhead Into The Villain For The Sequel

Considering “Deadpool 2” was an incredible success at the box office, proving once again that Ryan Reynold’s R-rated superhero is still a hit with audiences, the drama surrounding the production of the film has disappeared from the discussion. However, back before David Leitch came aboard to direct the film, “Deadpool” director Tim Miller was at the reins. And apparently, he had some very different ideas for where to take the franchise.

When Miller left the production of “Deadpool 2,” the dreaded “creative differences” reason was used. Some wondered if he conflicted with Reynolds about the direction of the sequel, while others thought maybe it was a budgetary disagreement. Either way, Miller was out, and David Leitch was in. However, according to “Deadpool” actress Brianna Hildebrand, we know that he might have had some interesting thoughts about where to take her character.

When asked at San Diego Comic-Con whether or not she had hopes for her “Deadpool” character, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Hildebrand said (via Red Carpet News TV), “I feel like every time I wish for something specific, maybe it doesn’t happen, or the opposite happens.”

“I know that we switched directors for the second film, but I remember after the first film was over, Tim was like, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if your character was a villain next time?’ And I was like, ‘That would be sick, yeah, sure, why not?’ And that’s definitely not the way that it went,” she continued.

For those that saw the film, Negasonic was used in a similar way as the first film, as the grouchy, disenfranchised teenage member of the X-Men, who just wouldn’t put up with Deadpool’s shit. It would have been really odd to see her turn into a villain so soon after becoming a character that fans grew to love in the first film.

Now that we’ve seen her in two films, maybe “Deadpool 3” can have Negasonic break bad. Who knows?
