Even though the internet should know better, a few days ago, DC Films rumors that surfaced on that bastion of accurate reporting and intelligent discourse known as 4chan started making the rounds. Some of the claims seemed reasonable, but others — such as the suggestion that WB and DC were going to blow their Batman related load with four movies featuring the character in 2019 — seemed ridiculous. And guess what, DC Films execs thinks those latter rumors are hilarious too.
Jon Berg and Geoff Johns hit Twitter where they joked about the suggestion that Matt Reeves‘ “The Batman,” David Ayer‘s “Gotham City Sirens,” Joss Whedon‘s “Batgirl,” and the director-less “Nightwing” would all be landing in 2019. You can certainly argue that DC Films haven’t always made the best decisions, but it’s a bit silly to believe even for a moment that they’d release four superhero movies in a single year, and that even if they did, they’d all touch on Batman to some degree. It’s not unreasonable to suggest that maybe two of those movies might land, but four is laughable.
Even Marvel, for all their success, is only releasing three movies in a single year for the first time in 2017, and one of them (“Spider-Man: Homecoming“) is a co-production with Sony. 2018 will see them release three pictures — “Black Panther,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Ant-Man And The Wasp” — for the first time, and they’ll do the same in 2019 (one of them being the sequel to ‘Homecoming’). But it’s probably a safe bet those years will be exceptions to the usual gameplan of two movies annually.
So, just a reminder, not everything (or anything) you read on 4chan is true. [via JoBlo]

They’ve announced 12 or so post-Aquaman projects, so unless that’s their slate through 2025 I think it’s a pretty safe bet that they’re trying to do 3 films per year beginning in 2019. I don’t see any reason to assume Marvel are planning to slow down either.
The difference between Marvel and DC is that Marvel has not been announcing projects in development at the rate DC is
What I mean by that is aside from Spider Man co productions, notice how Marve has not officialy announced anything beyond the fourth Avengers film. Of course, they are obviously developing projects now like a third Guradians or a second Doctor Strange but they are focusing on the already announced projects rather then announcing more on the spot like DC is.
Feige said last year at ComicCon that he knows what the 2020 and 2021 films are, and they’ve had three 2020 dates announced since 2015, so I’m sure we’ll find out this year. Probably Guardians 3, Doctor Strange 2 and a new character in 2020.
