Let The Casting Speculation Begin!
“Daredevil” is being brought back to the big screen and David Slade is set to direct.
Variety reports that the “Twilight: Eclipse” and “30 Days Of Night” helmer has landed the gig over at 20th Century Fox and the choice is pretty uninspired but not exactly surprising. David Slade was in the running for “The Wolverine” until Darren Aronofsky — who is total buds with Hugh Jackman — threw his hat in the ring. And coming off “Twilight: Eclipse,” Slade has shown he can work well within a franchise setting.
Frankly, the major factor for us will be who ends up penning the screenplay. With “The Wolverine” landing Christopher McQuarrie, and Jane Goldman working once again with Matthew Vaughn on “X-Men: First Class” (and undoubtedly with Bryan Singer lending his input), if the material is there, we’ll give Slade the benefit of the doubt that he can deliver. Perhaps the most interesting thing is that the film is being labeled as “a continuation” but will have nothing to do with the 2003 film. A reboot by any other name….
No word yet on when this will get into production or what this means for the vampire pic “Last Voyage Of Demeter” with Noomi Rapace and Ben Kingsley that Slade signed on to direct. It was already facing possible financing and scheduling issues and we wouldn’t be surprised if that one has fallen by the wayside. Let the “Daredevil” casting speculation begin.
The first one did so well that they made a sequel, remember Elektra?
it did pretty well despite completely missing the mark IMO. Throw in a poor release date in February. and it never had the chance it could of
Stick to the Frank Miller source material and your ahead of the game from the start.
Cat – the first one made over $100 million domestic. It did well
Why?? The first one didn\’t do well; why would this one? Comic book movies are going to burn out with the glut of \”Avengers\” stuff being set up…
my choice: Scott McNairy
Hey they\’re making another DAREDEVIL movie? Oh yeah, I remember some talk about a reboot..
