"[David O. Russell] recently texted me at I think 4 in the morning, and he was like, ‘I think I want to make a movie about the woman who invented the [Miracle] Mop. You want to do it?’ " Jennifer Lawrence explained on “Live With Kelly and Michael” in March. "I was like, ‘Yeah,’ " she added. "I can just imagine David looking at somebody mopping and being like, ‘Yeah, that’s my next screenplay.’ "
And while it sounded like a typical David O. Russell project at the time—meaning one of many in the hamper—not only is it next, it’s got a release date and an official title. Box Office site Exhibitors Relations tweets that 20th Century Fox will release David O. Russell’s “Joy” on Christmas Day 2015. That’s the power of Jennifer Lawrence for you (not to mention Russell who’s been nominated for Best Director three pictures in a row now).
“Joy" is about Joy Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop, who worked three jobs before seeing her invention become a sensation, bringing her from rags to riches. And now that screenplay and story is getting a big league boost. “Bridesmaids" writer Annie Mumolo wrote the screenplay and Russell surely has done his own personal rewrite (as he did with his last three films).
December 2015 is a busy season—the movie will face off against "Mission: Impossible 5," and Fox’s own "Kung Fu Panda 3" opens up on December 23rd. Of course, a week before that a little movie called "Star Wars: Episode VII" will arrive too.
Yeah Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing actress and a great women by heart. Just love to see her acting and when its a film like "Joy"!! Wohh!! like a cherry on the cake! 😉

Jennifer Lawrence has an amazing screen presence…I'll watch her in anything because she consistently gives terrific performances.
I like Jennifer Lawrence but the fact that so many people are saying she'll win best actress in 2016 is ridiculous. I can't believe actresses like Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Brie Larson, and countless other are overlooked or barely "hyped" while J.Law is constantly getting praise for these OK performances. SLP was sweet and witty but it was just another RomCom with a ridiculous amount of campaigning. Let's be real, can J.Law ever hold a role that isn't the same regurgitated characters she been playing while working with David O. Russel?
Winters Bone was her best, IMO but she hasn't ever gone back that.
Unfortunately, I think J.Law will fall into obscurity in a couple of years even though it seems she isn't going anywhere. It's the early Oscar syndrome! The Hunger Games put her in front of the world and she has been winning awards everywhere for performances that are good but not outstanding. I like her, I hope she can change it up and show us she's more than the crazy yet hilariously sympathetic woman in every film.
Sorry, but The Fighter was great, Silver Lining Playbook was good, but American Hustle was the best. I believe it should have won the Academy Award. Add these three to flirting with disaster, three kings, and Spanking the monkey, demonstrates that Russell has reached the pantheon of great directors.
Wow, this chick must be the most loved actress in the world. Must be nice.
CAST SEBASTIAN STAN NOW.
Russell really needs to stop casting the same old people for every project. "The Fighter" was great, "Silver Linings Playbook" was alright, and the latest one, "American Hustle", was a huge disaster in my opinion. He's trying to live off of the success of the "The Fighter" with crappy scripts and younger bad/overrated actors like JLaw and Cooper.
Everytime these two work together, the result is pure cinematic brilliance. David O. Russell is an incredible filmmaker and Jennifer Lawrence is a truly terrific actress. Can't wait for "Joy"!
I will watch any JLaw movie.LOVE HER.
Love Jennifer Lawrence so much! She is the BEST!
"Henry", "David", and "John" a.k.a. the same person.
Jennifer Lawrence is MAGIC on screen! Can't wait to watch this movie!
Jennifer Lawrence please decline any project with this director, show us your range!
Go back to indies. Give your curriculum vitae to Paul Thomas Anderson, Martin Scorsese, Asghar Farhadi, Michael Haneke, Kathryn Bigelow etc, but forget David O. Russel.
the most overrated people in the movie industry. two movies were enough for me.
