While some have ceded the Oscar race to “12 Years a Slave,” the might of David O. Russell can’t be forgotten. On paper, “Silver Linings Playbook” didn’t look like much more than a quirky rom-com, but after storming the Toronto International Film Festival and winning over critics and audiences, it played huge with Oscar voters, with eight nominations (the entire lead cast got nods) and a win for Jennifer Lawrence for Best Actress. And certainly, while this might look like some high-gloss entertainment, Russell usually has some more subversive notes to play.
As far as the marketing goes, this one is being sold as a wild ’70s romp, with five new character posters landing today. Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams all get their own one sheets, in this film based on/inspired by the true story of the ABSCAM operation in which a financial con artist (Bale) and his mistress/partner in crime (Adams) are forced to work with an out of control federal agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con artists, mobsters and politicians. Along with the artwork is one new still from the movie too, courtesy of this Christian Bale fansite.
What else do we need to say? We’re really eager to see how this all turns out, and we’ll be there on Christmas Day.
Adams,Lawrence,Renner and Cooper look like my idea of a 70's porn movie casting and Bale is the producer of the porn movie who f**ks every actress
