David O. Russell has signed with Fox 2000 to helm the project “Aaron and Sarah,” a romantic comedy described as John Hughes-esque – though surely it won’t be after Russell is done with it.
Previously known as “B.F.F,” the film will focus on a nerdy male and popular female and the relationship they develop through four years of high school, four proms and a funeral.
The film will be produced by Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen (“Milk”) and was written by husband-wife team Chad Gomez Creasy and Dara Resnik Creasy.
Russell is also set to helm an adaptation of “The Silver Linings Playbook” while his film “Nailed” is still set for an undated 2009 release, or at least, maybe…
