Indie-auteur, David Gordon Green apparently enjoyed his work on this summer’s stoner comedy “Pinneapple Express,” because he is now writing and producing an animated TV series for Fox that centers around two high school surfer dudes living near the beach in California. The show, titled “Good Vibes” recently had its pilot picked up by Fox. This is an interesting move for Green, who made his name with bleak indie flicks, such as “George Washington” and “All the Real Girls,” but he is also a guy who doesn’t like being boxed in by a particular genre, or maybe he just needs to get all those fuzzy good feelings out before he throws himself into another depressing drama. We wonder what the status is of his Danny McBride film co-project, “Your Highness.”
Good god. You guys might have to start some sort of DGG database to keep up with all these projects. I’m still waiting to hear more on “Mr. Machine” and that medieval dwarfs movie.
We kinda did once! Naturally, it’s out of date as you’re correct, DGG takes on new projects like he changes underwear, but back in March we did tether together a collection of every project, up until then that he had either once mentioned or been attached to. It can be read here. He’ since probably taken on about 2-3 (at least) projects since then including “Mr. Machine,” and “Your Highness.” At least “Innocent Man” seems to be off his plate now.
I remember that, it was an excellent roundup. Doing one of those every six months could get exhausting.
Yeah, exactly. F that.
