Got a Tip?

Dave Bautista Fights Texan Separatists In New Trailer For ‘Bushwick’

You might not expect a film starring Dave Bautista to play both the Sundance Film Festival and Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, but that’s what happened with “Bushwick.” The no-nonsense action thriller seems to have enough pedigree for high profile festival berths, even if it does look a bit ridiculous, at least as far as the premise is concerned.

Co-starring Brittany Snow, and directed by Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott (“Cooties“), the story reimagines the titular, hip Brooklyn neighborhood as ground zero by an invasion of Texan militants. When a young woman is caught in the crossfire, she finds help from a burly war veteran. Here’s the official synopsis:

When Lucy (Brittany Snow) steps off the subway, she walks into an utter bloodbath on the streets of Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood. Texas is attempting to secede from the Union, and militia forces have descended upon New York City to claim it as an East Coast base of operations and negotiation tool. Faced with a flurry of whizzing bullets and total destruction around every corner, Lucy takes shelter in the basement of Stupe (Dave Bautista), a burly war veteran who reluctantly helps her traverse the treacherous five-block stretch of Bushwhack to reach her destination—assuming it’s still there.

“Bushwick” opens in theaters, and hits Digital HD and VOD on August 25th.
