Got a Tip?

Danny McBride To Star In ‘Bullies’ For Mandate Pictures

Danny McBride and Mandate Pictures are loving their working relationship so far.

They already have the action comedy project, “L.A.P.I.” in development with McBride’s BFF director pal Jody Hill (“Observe & Report”) and now they’ve just announced another project.

This one, according to THR and Deadline is a comedy based on on an original idea by McBride “about two brothers who finally get a comeuppance after bullying people their whole lives.”

The script is being penned by “Yes Man” scribes Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul. Rough House Pictures, which is run by David Gordon Green, McBride, Hill and Matt Reilly — they have a massive swarm of projects in development right now, including “Battling Boy” and “Free Country” — will produce. And a boat load of them, four in total, are with Mandate, so clearly, while none of these films have been made yet, both companies feel the development relationship has passed the honeymoon phase.

One of them is what is known as “Taking Flight” right now. The second is an untitled Aziz Ansari/Matt Hubbard/Danny McBride project, the third is “L.A.P.I” and the fourth is obviously “Bullies.”

McBride’s next picture is “30 Minutes or Less” which shoots this summer with “Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer at the helm. He wrapped the stoner comedy “Your Highness” directed by David Gordon Green earlier this year. Both pictures are scheduled for 2011, ’30 Minutes’ in the summer and ‘Highness’ in the spring.
