We have yet to see his performance, but Damon Herriman is probably going to be a great Charles Manson in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” How are we certain of this? Well, just by happenstance, the actor got a ringing endorsement from none other than David Fincher. You see, Herriman not only landed the role of Manson in Tarantino’s 1969 Hollywood film, but he will also play the controversial figure in the upcoming second season of David Fincher’s “Mindhunter.”
According to Collider, even before he landed the role in ‘Once Upon a Time,’ Herriman had already secured Manson in the upcoming season of the Netflix crime series. Interestingly enough, it doesn’t appear that Herriman can just keep the Manson makeup on between sets. Not only will he be the 1969 version of the criminal in Tarantino’s film, and portray an older, locked up version of Manson, from the 1980s, in “Mindhunter,” but the report states that all of his scenes for the Netflix series have already been shot.
For those not familiar with Herriman’s previous work, the actor is probably best known for his work in the FX series “Justified.” However, he’s also been in Clint Eastwood’s “J. Edgar” and will next be seen in the Venice Film Festival premiering “The Nightingale” from director Jennifer Kent.
We have already written at length about Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” which features the most insanely stacked cast this side of “Avengers: Infinity War.” However, don’t sleep on the upcoming season of “Mindhunter.” In addition to Herriman’s Manson, the season is expected to have appearances by the BTK Killer and the Son of Sam.
No release date for the second season of “Mindhunter,” although it’s a lock for 2019 at this point. “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” will hit theaters on July 26, 2019.
