Got a Tip?

Damon Albarn To Score Short Film ‘The Boy In The Oak,’ Narrated By Jude Law

Sibling rivalry doesn’t seem to be a phrase that exists between Damon Albarn and his sister, Jessica Albarn. The latter, an accomplished visual artist, recently released the children’s book “The Boy In The Oak” to solid reviews, and it’s already making the leap to a film adaptation with some pretty strong talent behind it.

Jude Law has stepped up to narrate the forthcoming short film that will be directed by commercial helmer Luke Losey, who has also directed videos for Orbital and Mercury Rev. But the biggest coup? Jessica’s brother Damon Albarn, who plays around in a couple of groups you might have heard of called Blur and Gorillaz, will be composing the score.

The story centers on a young boy who lives in the cottage with a big old oak tree out back. He doesn’t really care about the tree and certainly doesn’t know it is enchanted, but all that changes as the fairies living in the oak are about to cast a spell that will change his life forever. Sounds pretty cute and given the talent lining up to bring this one to life we’re definitely curious.

No word yet on what Damon Albarn’s score will be comprised of or if it will get an official release but we’re looking forward to seeing what he comes up with. The film is being prepped for screenings that will begin in spring 2011. [Electronic Beats]
