So, just how kick ass is Philip Seymour Hoffman? Just a few weeks ago he was making headlines for checking himself back into rehab after a relapse into drug addiction led to him to snorting heroin. And today, dude is back at work like a boss and helping make an already great sounding project even better.
Deadline reports that Hoffman is going to be joining Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Gary Oldman, Joel Kinnaman, Paddy Considine and Fares Fares in “Child 44.” The poster for this pretty much designs itself. Getting a producer’s touch by Ridley Scott, with “Safe House” helmer Daniel Espinosa behind the camera and a script by Richard Price (“The Wire,” “Clockers“), the adaptation of Tom Rob Smith‘s novel follows a disgraced MGB agent (Hardy) in the 1950s Soviet Union investigating a prolific child murderer who may have connections going to the very top of the party leadership. No word yet on this role.
Production is already underway, Summit will release the movie probably next year, so just tell us the date so we can mark our calendar. It looks Christopher Nolan‘s “Interstellar” is getting a run for its money for 2014 cast of the year…

So Paula Deen says the N word DECADES ago and she gets fired. Hoffman shots up heroin and gets to keep his job. What a double standard. They should have both been given some unpaid time off, learned from it and get to keep their positions. Frankly, I'll take someone who uses the N word over someone who is out of their mind high on drugs. More people die from illegal drug use than the N word. And how is Hoffman NOT IN JAIL? Where are the police? They should raid his house and arrest him.

I'm not trying to compare Lindsay Lohan to PS Hoffman, but why is it we praise him for attempting to work through his addiction and condemn her? Even though both of them have multiple stints in rehab.
