Got a Tip?

Dakota Fanning For ‘Twilight’ Sequel ‘New Moon’?

Is almost all-growed-up Dakota Fanning going to join the emo tween vampires of “Twilight” for the upcoming fall sequel, “New Moon”?

E! is reporting it could happen and that Fanning is officially in talks with Summit and new director Chris Weitz.

She is in talks to apparently play the character Jane opposite Robert Pattinson, who we assume must be a new love interest since we’ve never read the books because we enjoy our braincells and probably never will.

According to WikiTwilight, “Jane is sadistic a guard of the Volturi and a pet of Aro’s. She seems rather bitter and easily justifies inflicting pain on anyone with her power. Jane has a twin brother named Alec and they both reside in Volterra, Italy. “

Well, gee that clears up everything. Is Mordor or the Flux Capacitor involved in some way too?

Update: One of our female readers writes in. ” Hey there, Jane is a psycho vampire who cripples people with her mind. Part of a corrupt group who govern all vampires.” Jesus, women really can’t stand another sometimes, huh? Doesn’t calling her a bitch suffice?

“There were no auditions,” a source told E!. “They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.” Apparently the fans are so down with the idea there is an online poll in favor of the move (or maybe it started in advance, who knows). Congratulations? The film is supposed to begin shooting in March.

  1. All emo aside, this is probably a really good career move for Fanning to maintain relevance through the course of her teen years.

Lord knows she escaped “Hounddog” (or whatever that movie was called) without a scratch and “Push” ain’t going to become a franchise any time soon.

  2. Interesting that they’re bulking the Jane role up for “New Moon” as she is hardly in that book. Must be part of the rewrites to make sure Edward is in the movie sequel more cos he’s absent for most of book 2 also.
