Details of two soundtracks coming at you in a second. The first is “In Time,” the sci-fi picture directed by “Gattaca” filmmaker Andrew Niccol. Starring Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Alex Pettyfer and Olivia Wilde. The cast is solid, but by the looks of various trailers, the jury is still out. Yes, Niccol engendered almost endless amounts of goodwill for the sci-fi pic “Gattaca,” but that was more than 10 years ago. “S1m0ne” was ungood to say the least, and “Lord of War” was… well, there.
At this point, “In Time” should be the make or break picture for the director. Shot by Roger Deakins, the technical department of this film also has composer Craig Armstrong going for it — known for his collaborations with U2, Madonna, Luciano Pavarotti, Massive Attack, and scores for “Romeo + Juliet,” “Moulin Rouge!” and “Ray.” His score work is generally romantic, dramatic and passionate, so here’s to hoping. The soundtrack arrives to iTunes on October 25. The film lands three days later on October 28.
The latter soundtrack belongs to the great John Williams. He’s written the score to Steven Spielberg‘s motion-capture foray, “The Adventures of Tintin.” It features the voice and motion-capture work of Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and many more. Williams is far more choosy with his work these days, but always makes time for Spielberg (he’s also written the score to “War Horse” and is penning the music for “Lincoln“). This writer cannot remember the last score that Williams did that moved him aside from moments of “Munich,” but who really cares, the composer has written enough iconic works that he will forever be remembered as one of the all-time movie score authors of all time. Samples from ‘Tintin’ can be heard below and tracklists for both discs are below the jump.

The most exciting revelation from the Tintin playlist is that Bianca Castafiore is appearing in the movie, even though she\’s not in the source story of \’The Secret of the Unicorn\’. This is actually kinda fun news, and it\’s just typical of her to rock up where she wasn\’t invited. Can\’t wait to hear her belt the Jewel Song!
Thanks for the info!
I hpoe IN TIME gets released on CD as well as download.
As for Williams, maybe nothing since MUNICH has moved you because he\’s only written one score since then, INDY IV.
