Could 19-year-old Anton Yelchin be your “Green Lantern”? A little wet behind the ears, no? D.C. Comics is ramping up its 2nd-tier hero for an upcoming film adaptation to be directed by Martin Campbell (“Casino Royale”) and apparently most of the more ideal possibilities are either unavailable or passed.
Worthy candidate Sam Worthington is apparently busy with the “Clash Of The Titans,” remake. Ryan Gosling (“Half Nelson”) has reportedly passed on the role as has Emile Hirsch (“Speed Racer”). Near the bottom of the totem-pole, apparently Yelchin’s name has come. So basically they’ll have tweak the story so it’s the tale of “Green Lantern,” as he just breaks his cherry and graduated high school? We thought teen “Justice League” was dead. “Green Lantern” is set for December 17, 2010. [Latino Review via ScreenRant]
This kid was OK at best in charlie Bartlett and even then, I was annoyed as hell by him.
I like Yelchin, but i turned Charlie Bartlett off after 20 minutes. He was terrible in that and the nerds are right to want an older lantern, maybe even someone RDowney Jr. age.
I really like Yelchin, including in Charlie Bartlett. Unfortunately, I know nothing about the Green Lantern, so I guess I can’t comment towards that, other than by saying I’d look forward to seeing him in almost anything.
The script seems to specify an older twenties guy, at least. Yelchin reeks of desperation.
HA! I laught at your irrational fear for the youth! Wich is ironic, since Justice League was also disdained for using an OLDER John Stewart.
I’m pretty sure ZERO PEOPLE said something about their disappointment about Justice League’s Green Lantern being old.
