**Potential spoilers ahead** Last fall, rumors circulated that "Wonder Woman" wouldn’t exactly follow "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" story-wise. Instead, word had it that the narrative would jump between three timelines: 1940s Themyscira; World War I in the middle; and the modern day at the end the story leading into "Justice League: Part One." Chris Pine, who plays Steve Trevor in the film, has now confirmed at least of those settings — World War I.

“It’s a period we don’t see often; it’s usually World War II. Our costume design is incredible. We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I’d never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here," he revealed to the Toronto Sun.
So, this next bit of casting makes a lot of sense. THR reports that Connie Nielsen has landed the role of Hippoyta, the queen of the Amazons and mother of Princess Diana, aka Wonder Woman. It’s a part that many had pegged for Robin Wright, but Dylan Penn (her daughter) dropped a clue about the role: “She’s training to be a super hero for a movie.” Your guess is as good as ours.
Co-starring Danny Huston, David Thewlis, and Ewen Bremner, and directed by Patty Jenkins, "Wonder Woman" opens on June 23, 2017.
Robin Wright is playing Diana\’s aunt.
Maybe Robin is playing Artemis of Bana-Mighdall who has been both a rival to Diana and also Wonder Woman herself for a time. Maybe Robin will be some version of that. Or Orana, another Amazon similar to Artemis and who also was WW for a time.
