It’s the end of week, so let’s take a few minutes to clear off some of the various comic book movie bits and bobs that have been hanging around our digital desk….
First up, Adam McKay, who gave Edgar Wright‘s "Ant-Man" a "bigger" and "funnier" rewrite, says he might direct a movie for Marvel. "I’m starting to get into the early stages with Marvel. There’s plenty of fun stuff and our company always has tons of things so we have a couple movies coming out this year,” he told Collider. "I just did a big rewrite on ‘Ant-Man’ with Paul Rudd and had such a great time working with them that we’re kicking around ideas. But yeah, maybe I would take on one of the characters so we haven’t locked in anything, but discussions are definitely going on.” Which character do you think McKay has right sensibilities for? Over at Fox, Brian Smrz, the second unit director of "X-Men: Days of Future Past," is getting ready for "X-Men: Apocalypse," and reveals a new fan favorite is coming back. "They want me to start pretty soon, on the storyboarding and stuff. I’ll be working on the next X-Men for the next month or so part-time, and by the end of the year it’ll be full-time," he told Newsarama, adding, "…there will be another Quicksilver scene, which I’m looking forward to; that’ll be fun." And according to Smrz, he actually shot most of the epic Quicksilver kitchen scene in ‘DOFP,’ not Bryan Singer….
Lastly, everyone watched the leaked-then-officially-released trailer for "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" (and by the way, the studio is still prepping another one to run on Tuesday during "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."). But did the trailer hint at a Black Panther appearance? That depends on who you think Andy Serkis (pictured below from the trailer) is playing. Cinema Blend speculates it’s "Black Panther villain Ulysses Klaw." He’s "a physicist who specializes in the field of sound. A key element to his work is the metal vibranium—a.k.a. the stuff Captain America’s shield is made out of—and as a result he often finds himself in the only place in the world where the metal can be found: Wakanda (Black Panther’s home)." Hmm….
