Got a Tip?

Colin Firth Confirmed To Star With Nicole Kidman In Thriller ‘Before I Go To Sleep’

Nicole Kidman Colin FirthIt seems that what Nicole Kidman wants, Nicole Kidman gets. Last fall, the actress expressed a desire to reteam with Colin Firth, with whom she recently wrapped the WWII tale "The Railway Man," on the upcoming thriller "Before I Go To Sleep." And that's exactly what's going to happen.

The actor is now confirmed to join the movie, which potentially marks another powerhouse pairing in the offing. Based on S.J. Watson’s bestselling book, and set to be directed by Rowan Joffe ("Brighton Rock"), the thriller follows a woman (Kidman) who wakes up each morning with no memory, with her husband (Firth) telling her that she's suffered a trauma and needs to stay at home. One day, she sneaks off to a doctor (to be played by Mark Strong) who gives her a recorder and tells her to play back her thoughts to help piece things together. What she discovers is that her husband…may not be her husband at all.

So wait, slow down…Firth is the potential bad guy, and Strong the good guy? Has the world gone topsy-turvy? We kid, because this actually sounds like a pretty nifty genre flick. So onward and upwards. Filming begins later this month. [Variety]

  1. Firth made bad buys characters: Shakespeare in love, Trauma, Where the truth lies, "Tinker, tailor, soldier, spy" (one can even says Apartment Zero) and he was very good

  2. Oh this should be really good, Nicole and Colin are a dream team. The story sound intriguing but it's very tricky working with amnesia in film. Lets hope it's for the better.

  3. I hope Kidman does well in this. It has been widely reported she has acknowledged the botox use but has now stopped and I want to believe her. Too much obvious muscle retarding botox is career suicide for a serious actress. I want to see the type of performance her supporters say she is capable of giving. I hope she doesn't disappoint.

  4. "One day, she sneaks off to a doctor who gives her a recorder and tells her to play back her thoughts to help piece things together." Does that mean long suffering cinema patrons are required to, once again, stomach her whispering 'breathy little girl' voice via play back. HELP!!

  5. No matter what you trolls and Nicole Kidman 'haters' attempt to do to destroy this brilliant actress, she has been nominated at least 130 times (just the ones listed on Wikipedia) and awarded many dozens of times for her brilliant work BY her industry and her peers… who know a whole lot more about her skills and beauty than you could ever fathom! Go look in the mirror and see what you could do for yourself to improve your own 'looks' and abilities before ripping on others with REAL talent and beauty!

  6. Much to Kidman's relief, 'Before I Go To Sleep' is going to demand absolutely no emoting skills from her face. Every morning, all she will be required to do is wake up with a BLANK expression – too easy.

  7. Best news ever! My favorite actors together again … Looking forward to both their movies … And M Strong is a great choice for the doctor, love his work!
