As mentioned, “Cold War” debuted at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it quickly became a standout project. The film follows the love story between a man and a woman who meet in post-war Poland. As the title suggests, the film is set in the Cold War in 1950s Poland, Berlin, Yugoslavia, and Paris. As politics and fate attempt to separate the couple, their love story forever links them.
The film stars Joanna Kulig and Tomasz Kot as the aforementioned woman and man. Pawlikowski directs the film, coming off his Academy Award-winning work on “Ida.” Certainly, his latest seems to be a film that will put the filmmaker back on the short-list of awards contenders this year.
