Got a Tip?

Cobie Smulders Orders Up ‘Starbuck’ With Vince Vaughn; Jessica Szohr Has A ‘Two Night Stand’

nullA couple of TV's leading ladies continue to make their move to the big screen, in a couple of promising comedies…

Jason Segel aside, it looks like Cobie Smulders is gearing up as the next breakout star of the long running sitcom "How I Met Your Mother." She was part of the billion dollar ensemble of "The Avengers" earlier this summe, will appear early next year in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation "Safe Haven" and will now flex her funny bone opposite Vince Vaughn and Chris Pratt in "Starbuck." A remake of the French Canadian hit film, the story centers on a middle-aged man (Vaughn) whose life changes when he finds out that he has fathered 533 children through sperm donation, and that a few hundred of those children have expressed the wish to meet their biological father. Smulders will play Vaughn's pregnant girlfriend who we imagine isn't thrilled to find out he's a baby daddy five hundred times over. The original film's writer/director Ken Scott returns behind the camera with production to begin this fall.

Meanwhile, Vanessa Abramas aka Jessica Szohr from "Gossip Girl" continues on a busy run of movies, and have just taken part in "The Internship" also with Vince Vaughn, alongside Owen Wilson, she's now moving to "Two Night Stand." Starring Miles Teller and Analeigh Tipton, the pair will play a pair of unlikely lovers who are trapped together in an apartment after a record-breaking blizzard forces them to extend a regrettable one-night stand. Szohr will play Tipton's best friend, who pushes her back on the dating scene in order to get over an ex. Max Nichols directs and cameras roll next month. [Variety/THR]
