The biggest question mark of the year has to be the highly ambitious, Tom Tykwer and Lana and Andy Wachowski-helmed epic adaptation of David Mitchell’s acclaimed and dense best-seller, “Cloud Atlas.” After a long period of silence and secrecy that’s usually reserved for Christopher Nolan and J.J. Abrams pictures, the past couple of weeks has seen an abundance of information regarding the project surface, including an impressive six-minute trailer. And now the official website has unveiled a sort-of-timeline featuring the sprawling cast of characters.
It’s an interesting way of getting us acquainted with the rather large cast who play multiple characters. Via headshots, the visual timeline is unveiled in a linear path — probably more straightforward than what the finished product will be — revealing each character evolving from the path to the future (or something like that anyhow). See if you can spot who plays who, as it gets a little trickier/more absurd the further the timeline goes along.
With the end of blockbuster season just around the corner, the next few months have no shortage of films we’re looking forward to but we’re absolutely dying to see how the film plays out. Will it be a contender for the best film of the year or will it be one of the year's biggest disasters? It certainly looks like it could go either way, but It won’t be long until we have our answer. “Cloud Atlas” will premiere at TIFF in about five weeks before hitting theaters on October 26th, 2012. A few of the more ridicu-, errr, awesome photos below.
My guess is that in the sixth storyline (post-apocalyptic Hawaii) Susan Sarandon plays the priestess who interprets Zachry's vision in their temple.
Looks like John Travolta
