The Marvel television universe is about to get a little bigger and have a whole lot more teenage angst. According to Disney SVP Mark Enemano, Freeform’s upcoming take on “Cloak & Dagger” “is about character and emotion above all… Think ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ though I can tell you that they won’t be dying at the end of the first episode!” Based on the new trailer, the show looks like it will definitely deliver on that promise. There’s parental drama, anxiety, teenage hormones, and the promise that “one will live and one will die.”
The “Cloak & Dagger” series has been a long time coming. All the way back in 2011, the head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb announced that the series was in development. Then, in April of 2016, Freeform ordered the show straight to series and filming began February 2017. The pilot had a special premiere at SXSW earlier this month to pretty positive reactions, with many praising the show’s leads, Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph.
Joseph is a relative newcomer, but Holt has starred in several Disney channel series and even voiced Spider-Girl in “The Ultimate Spider-Man” animated show. Along with Holt and Joseph, the show stars Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, Emma Lahana, Jaime Zevallos, and J.D. Evermore.
“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” is set to debut with a two-hour episode on June 7 on Freeform.

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness.
