There are two ways the new, six-part, limited series of "The X-Files" could go — Agents Mulder and Scully could find themselves on a new adventure with fresh faces, or be given a case that has them interacting with many of the familiar folks we’ve seen before. And it looks like it’s the latter that’s shaping up.
Robert Patrick (Special Agent John Doggett), Annabeth Gish (Special Agent Monica Reyes), Mitch Pileggi (FBI Assistant Director Skinner), and William B. Davis (Cigarette Smoking Man) are all expected to return to the series. But like most of the intel around the series right now, not much is known beyond this bit of news. It’s not certain where, or how extensively, the characters will fit into the six-episode arc, and of course, plot details are under wraps. It’ll be interesting to see what Fox does in regards to Cigarette Smoking Man, considering that smoking is pretty much verboten on TV these days. Maybe he’ll wear a nicotine patch.
Production will get underway this summer, but let us know what you think about these characters returning. [TV Wise/EW]
…hope Lance Henriksen\’s Frank Black would show up to… Don\’t worry about the series finale – there was no trace of it in the second X-Fs movie either…
TG beat me to it. Who cares if he smokes as a hallucination seen only by Mulder? In an ideal world, they\’d wipe out the events of the series finale (and the finale of The Lone Gunmen) and use that to their advantage.
"It\’ll be interesting to see what Fox does in regards to Cigarette Smoking Man-"
Especially since he was blown to bits in that horrid series finale.
