Got a Tip?

Christopher Nolan Says He’d Still Like To Direct A James Bond Movie

Christopher Nolan has made no secret of his love of James Bond movies. The director has met with the franchise producers in the past to talk about directing an entry, but naturally, he wants to put his own mark on the series, rather than just crank out another chapter. Still, Nolan has made clear the influence that “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service“ had on “Inception,” and he’s still keeping his on Bond for an opportunity to make a movie about 007.

In a new interview with Playboy, the director made it clear he’d be keen on James Bond, however, it would have to be a situation where he could put his own spin on things.

“A Bond movie, definitely. I’ve spoken to the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson over the years. I deeply love the character, and I’m always excited to see what they do with it. Maybe one day that would work out. You’d have to be needed, if you know what I mean. It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they’re getting along very well,” he explained.

In short, the James Bond franchise at the  moment is quite healthy, with a formula that’s working, so Nolan doesn’t see the need to step in and vice versa. And we wouldn’t want to see the director take on 007 without having a completely blank slate to do whatever we wants. For now, the series is soldiering on, with fresh rumors that Daniel Craig has resigned for the next movie, and Adele will return to sing the theme song. But it’s from the Print Anything British Press so we’ll see how that all shakes out.

Nonetheless, Nolan going Bond is something we’d love to see, particularly given how passionate and open he seems to be about doing it. However, it could be a long wait. [via JoBlo]
