Got a Tip?

Christopher Nolan Remains Wishy-Washy About Next Batman Film: Might Not Have A Concrete Story Yet

When the L.A. Times’ Geoff Boucher caught up with Chrisopher Nolan the other day, he of course asked Nolan about the subject we are sure Nolan is as sick of hearing about as the rest of us, where is he taking Batman after “The Dark Knight.” Instead of giving a fill on answer, Nolan posed a few interesting questions himself about the fate of the franchise.

“Well…let me think how to put this. there are two things to be said. One is the emphasis on story. What’s the story? Is there a story that’s going to keep me emotionally invested for the couple of years that it will take to make another one? That’s the overriding question. On a more superficial level, I have to ask the question: How many good third movies in a franchise can people name? At the same time, in taking on the second one, we had the challenge of trying to make a great second movie, and there haven’t been too many of those either. It’s all about the story really. If the story is there, everything is possible. I hope that was a suitably slippery answer.”

Nolan did indeed keep himself from giving away just about anything, and does bring up a good point about the lack of quality third movies. We just wish Nolan and co. would sit down and pump out another one soon so we don’t have to listen to fanboy speculation anymore.
