After much anticipation, hype, and expectation, Terrence Malick‘s long awaited "Knight Of Cups" finally debuted in February at the Berlin International Film Festival (read our review) and then…well, that was about it. We haven’t really heard much about the film since, but a batch of new images have arrived featuring the trio of lead stars.
Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, and Cate Blanchett are the big names in the picture that also features appearances by a slew of others, including Imogen Poots, Freida Pinto, Teresa Palmer, Brian Dennehy, Wes Bentley, and far too many more to mention here (for example, Jason Clarke pops up but doesn’t even have a line of dialogue). The story follows Rick, a Hollywood writer having an existential crisis while grappling with complicated relationships with his father and the women in his life.
These new images are certainly a nice peek at the beautiful photography of Emmanuel Lubezki, but there’s still no word on a U.S. release date from Broad Green Pictures. {TM Fan site]
Poots was brilliant in \’Solitary Man\’
To the Wonder had Olga Kurylenko and Javier Bardem and was still not that good. i don\’t think it was Ben Affleck who sank that film, though. the themes were not convincingly portrayed through character development but through an endless stream of voice overs. this worked better in Tree of Life b/c the themes were universal. not quite sure yet whether Knight of Cups will work as a fulfilling story but the cinematography in the trailer sure looks great.
How could ANYTHING with Bale and Blanchett and Portman, directed by MALICK be anything but wonderful? JUst looking at the photographs is enjoyable, having witnessed amazing performances by the actors. As for Malick, I am still under the spell of TREE OF LIFE.
I refuse to believe that idiot Vic has even seen the film..
The photos are not the property of One Big Soul. It\’s a shame Broad Green can\’t release the materials themselves. What are they waiting for?
I am an obsessive Christian Bale fan and I can honestly say that this movie will be AMAZING!
Let\’s see if this movie works.
Everyone broods in a Terrence Mallick film
It is mocha-choca-latte, yaya. Real Lady Marnalade. StarWars8 & iphone8 will gamechange random hipster everything
No credit? Probably these photos all appeared by themselves, spontaneously.
They are even shown on the Playlist in the exact reverse order they are classified on the page where The Playlist has taken them…
Other blogs at least gave credit where credit is due: One Big Soul.
Is there a European release date yet?
OWNED!!!!!
Plus this movie looks very promising and hasn\’t been released world wide yet. Sooooooo
What\’s truly horrible — and hateful — is tossing out a nasty opinion like this and not bothering to give even a hint of a reason for having the opinion.
The movie is horrible.
