Got a Tip?

Christian Bale Bails On Danny Boyle’s ‘Jobs’

Christian Bale, Danny BoyleInsert whatever computer related pun you want, but here’s ours: Sony‘s plans to boot up their Steve Jobs biopic just hit a major glitch.

THR reports that Christian Bale has bailed on the movie, citing "conflicting feelings" and the ultimate realization that "he was not right for the part and decided to withdraw." While the exact nature of Bale’s concerns aren’t yet known (maybe he felt bad doing the movie after David Fincher, who first courted him for the project, departed), the actor is due on the press circuit soon for "Exodus: Gods And Kings," so he’ll surely be asked about this matter. It should be noted that the actor was never technically signed on.

This complicates Sony’s plans for the Danny Boyle-directed film —Seth Rogen and Jessica Chastain were being sought for roles, and shooting was scheduled for the winter. But all is not lost. Boyle will be meeting with actors this week to tackle Aaron Sorkin‘s chatty script presenting Jobs’ story in a triptych around the Mac, NeXT, and iPod product launches, in 1984, 1997, and 2001 respectively.

So, who can take over? Who do you see playing Steve Jobs? Let us know below.

  1. It might sound stupide, but Ashton Kutcher did a fine job in Jobs. That\’s my pun. What helped me to sit through it was his performance. I know it could be awkward to have him back for such a role, but I\’d be very pleased to hear such an impossible news. Who would be so stupid to cast someone from a disaster like that? I feel sorry for Kutcher, hope he\’ll land on a project good enough for his skills.

  2. Where is the audience for this?! Do we need yet another Steve Jobs biopic? Didn\’t the Kutcher one flop at the box office? I don\’t understand the decision makers in Hollywood sometimes.
