Got a Tip?

Chloe Moretz Joins Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows’

Just last week, Chloe Moretz hinted via Twitter that she’d landed a role in a big, huge upcoming film with an incredibly famous director. Everyone was talking about “The Hunger Games,” but Gary Ross isn’t exactly a household name. We had our suspicions, especially when she gave an interview to MTV saying that the ensemble cast was the best part of the gig. Deadline has confirmed one of our guesses, announcing that Moretz will join Tim Burton‘s adaptation of the camp ’60s television show “Dark Shadows.”

Moretz joins an all-star cast including Johnny Depp, Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcote. She will play Carolyn, daughter to Elizabeth, Pfeiffer’s matriarch character. Carolyn and Elizabeth reside in the Collinwood mansion, where the supernatural tale of vampires takes place. Moretz’s star has been on the rise since her lead role in Matthew Vaughn‘s “Kick-Ass.” She has numerous projects coming up, including Ami Canaan Mann‘s “The Fields,” Martin Scorsese‘s “Hugo Cabret” and the Southern gothic tale “Hick.”

She was recently passed over for the lead role in “Hunger Games” for Jennifer Lawrence, but she clearly isn’t letting that stop her from rising to the top. Advance word on “Dark Shadows” is that it will be lot funnier than people are expecting, and when we spoke to Eva Green recently, she said it was “extremely well written, very sharp.”

Lensing is expected to start soon, and though release date has yet been set, it’ll likely land sometime next year.

  1. I don\’t think this has been confirmed at all. This was pure internet speculation as of this morning and Deadline cites no sources or quotes to back up the claim.
