Yeah, yeah we know. IFC Films just picked up Olivier Assayas‘ “Sils Maria,” even though it hasn’t shot a single frame, but perhaps they saw this casting coming and realized this is something they wanted to get their hands on.
Deadline reports that Chloe Moretz is in talks to join Juliette Binoche and Mia Wasikowska in the movie, which is sounding like a particularly meta little picture. Written by Assayas, who collaborated closely with Binoche, the story centers on an older actress who becomes obsessed over by a younger thesp (Moretz), who is taking a role made famous by the woman when she was younger. Got all that? So it’s reflection of past choices through the lens of the movie industry it would seem, a particularly fascinating prospect. As for Wasikowska, she will play Binoche’s assistant.
Production will be begin later this year as we presume Cannes honcho Thierry Fremaux is already making a few calls to try and lock this down for his 2014 lineup.

So despite already having two of the best indie actresses in the cast, IFC decides to scoop up the rights only when Moretz joins? If true, that's just sad.
Please, dear God, let this be false. Moretz isn't even in the same universe as these two and never will be. It's like sticking Shia LaBeouf into "Gone with the Wind."

All About Eve remake?
