Got a Tip?

Check Out ‘Mad Men’ Season 6 Poster Designed By Veteran Ad Man Brian Sanders

nullYou would think for a show that revels in the bygone advertising era fuelled by cigarette smoke and sex, “Mad Men” would’ve had the lightning bolt to maybe grab someone from that time and do a little artwork for them. But for whatever reason, it’s taken them until season six, but the results speak for themselves.

Boasting the kind of artwork you might see on Peggy Olson‘s presentations in the the offices of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, this one sheet for the highly anticipated new season was created by Brian Sanders. The 75 year-old English native may not be household name, but his work back in the day caught the eye of none other than Stanley Kubrick, who tasked him to work on the set of “2001: A Space Odyssey” for two months, delivering illustrations of scenes from the movie (which you can see here along with his other advertising work).

“What it did was take me right back, about 50 years,” Sanders told the New York Times, adding: “It’s a style we refer to over here in England as bubble and streak. I don’t work in that manner now, and I was surprised how quickly it came back, the ability to use it in that particular way.”

So, is this is a clue as to what era “Mad Men” will take us in season 6? Or just some cool shit Matthew Weiner commissioned? Find out on April 7th at 9 PM. null
