Got a Tip?

Charlie Sheen Will Be The President Of The United States In ‘Machete Kills’

nullAlthough “Machete” wasn’t a runaway success at the box-office ($44m worldwide), critically it was met with cautiously optimistic reviews, it didn't cost all that much, and it seems that was enough for Robert Rodriguez to plough ahead with a sequel. You know, because he can. The end credits promised that Machete would return in “Machete Kills” and “Machete Kills Again” (in space?) and we’re slowly moving closer towards the former of those happening.

“Machete Kills” is expected to see Trejo’s Machete being recruited by the U.S. government to battle his way across Mexico to take down an arms dealer who is looking to launch a weapon into space. Returning are Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and, of course, Danny Trejo — and it would be tough for many more to be reappearing seeing as nigh on everybody ends up dead by the end of "Machete." New additions announced so far include Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Mel Gibson, Demian Bichir and Zoe Saldana, and it now appears that Rodriguez’s sequel will also be getting a fresh injection of tiger blood. After casting one high-profile celebrity shambles in the form of Lindsay Lohan last time around, this time Rodriguez has hand-picked Charlie Sheen.

“I just cast Charlie Sheen in #machetekills as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon..” said Rodriguez in a tweet, which Sheen then retweeted by way of a confirmation. Deadline states that it’s not a big role in the film, so don’t expect Sheen’s President to be filling the gap Robert De Niro’s Senator has left. If we're being cynical we’d suggest that Sheen is looking for more movie parts just in case his TV career bombs with “Anger Management.” But let’s be honest, that’s just not going to happen, and Sheen also has Roman Coppola’s “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III” on the horizon which should help him on the comeback road. While Lohan’s mad-cap antics (and how cute does it sound when we put it like that) have severely hampered her career, Sheen seems to continually be able to make the most of his. We’re even quite looking forward to this cameo, and it’s the type of casting that can surely only benefit all involved. Photos from Rodriguez's Twitter and Alba's Twitter via FilmStage.
