With a fairly limited filmography behind the camera, Chad Stahelski has still become one of the most in-demand filmmakers working today. That’s thanks in no small part to his work on the three “John Wick” films. And apparently the filmmaker is ready to team up with his “John Wick” writer for a new film, “The Man From Nowhere.”
According to Deadline, Stahelski is set to produce “The Man From Nowhere,” New Line’s upcoming English-language remake of the South Korean hit of the same name from 2010. And he’s bringing along Derek Kolstad to write the script. Kolstad, as mentioned above, is the person who wrote all three of the “John Wick” films.
The 2010 original, written and directed by Jeong-beom Lee was a box office hit when it was released and tells the story of a pawnshop owner with a violent past that gets involved in drug and organ trafficking to help save the life of his child. And though it’s not being reported that anyone is being approached to star in the film, with Stahelski involved, you kinda have to picture Keanu Reeves in that lead role, right? He would be perfect. But I digress.
The report claims that the studio is really happy with Kolstad’s script and is already on the hunt for a director to take on the project, with Stahelski not apparently in the running. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Stahleski was in the running for an upcoming action film from the producers of “A Quiet Place.” But he’s also set to direct the upcoming fourth “John Wick” film, which was recently pulled from its 2021 release date due to the production halt related to the pandemic.
It’s unclear when “The Man From Nowhere” will begin production, but it does appear that New Line is moving ahead pretty quickly.
