Got a Tip?

Casting: Audrey Tautou Joins Michel Gondry’s Next Film, Mark Ruffalo Eyes ‘Columbo’ & More

Audrey Tautou Beautiful LiesMichel Gondry‘s "Mood Indigo" finally arrive in U.S. theaters this weekend, and he’s celebrating by getting back to work. He starts shooting in a few weeks on his next film, "Microbe et gasoil," and he’s now attracted a big name to the film.

Chatting with Nerdist, Gondry revealed he’ll be working with "Mood Indigo" star Audrey Tautou once again for his next film, and went on to describe the plot. "She’s going to be in my next film," he said. "It’s a sort of coming-of-age movie with two teenagers who are outcasts, and you see them sort of struggling with the rest of the class at school. They eventually build a car, and they go and cross France with their special car that they’ve built. But they’ve built the car in the shape of a house so the cops cannot arrest them. They are not of an age to drive, so when the cops drive by, they stop the car and it looks like a house. [Laughs.] So they have many funny adventures. It’s quite imaginative, but it’s gonna be shot in a very realistic manner." Realistic perhaps, but it all sounds perfectly Gondrian.

Is Jason Sudeikis going serious? It would seem so as Screen Daily reports that the actor has joined "Race," a biopic about American running star Jesse Owens (played Stephan James), who famously embarrassed Adolf Hitler and his quest to show Aryan supremacy at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Sudeikis will play Owens’ coach and mentor Larry Snyder, with Jeremy Iron as the Olympic Committee dude who pushed to host the games in Germany. Production begins in Montreal this month.

Deadline reports that Jacki Weaver has joined Kristen Stewart, Nicholas Hoult, Guy Pearce, Kate Lyn Sheil and Aurora Perrineau in Drake Doremus‘ "Equals." The movie "is set in a future society where emotions have been eradicated and the new breed of humans is called Equals. When “Switched-On Syndrome” infects Silas (Hoult), he becomes an outcast. Nia (Stewart) suffers from the same condition, but is able to hide her emotions. The only way for them to ensure their survival is to escape." Weaver will play a doctor.

He’s played the Hulk, and since Mark Ruffalo can do anything, he might be making a movie based on your Dad’s favorite TV series, "Columbo." Hitting Twitter the actor confirmed the very early talks, as you can see below.
