Someone really should tell filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie that he can’t just go and announce cast members for his “Mission: Impossible” sequels on social media. Doesn’t he know that film outlets would die for these sorts of scoops? Oh well. At least the latest actors joining the Tom Cruise-led franchise are pretty damn exciting.
According to McQuarrie’s latest posts on social media, he’s expanding his “Mission: Impossible” cast to include Cary Elwes, Rob Delaney, Indira Varma, Charles Parnell, and Mark Gatiss. These actors all have unspecified roles in the highly anticipated “Mission: Impossible 7” and possibly “Mission: Impossible 8.” Again, he’s not too clear on which will live through the first one to return in the other.
As mentioned, McQuarrie has been making a habit of introducing new ‘M:I’ actors through social media. As of now, we already know that Cruise will be joined by returning cast members such as Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Angela Bassett, and Henry Czerny. And the filmmaker spilled the beans about new actors taking on the spy franchise including Pom Klementieff, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Esai Morales. All told, McQuarrie has pulled together one hell of a cast for his blockbusters, that’s for sure.
We know that filming is supposed to wrap up soon for “Mission: Impossible 7,” with the production of the eighth feature starting later this year. It’s assumed that this is Cruise’s swan song in the franchise that has spanned decades, but who knows? Maybe there are a few more sequels in the works?
“Mission: Impossible 7” is now expected to arrive in theaters this November, with ‘M:I 8’ scheduled for November 2022.
