The Cannes Director’s Fortnight lineup has been unveiled and unlike last year, which had higher profile films such as Francis Ford Coppola’s “Tetro,” Pedro Costa’s “Ne change rien,” Lynn Shelton’s “Humpday” and “I Love You Phillip Morris,” by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa this year’s lineup focuses pretty much exclusively on lesser known talents.
In change of heart from last year, artistic director Frédéric Boyer said in remarks translated by Variety, “Films by well-known directors don’t interest us as much. The Quinzaine’s purpose is to discover new talent. I’m more interested in filmmakers that have never been seen before.” Mission accomplished.
The only titles we’re curious about (and recognize, frankly) are special screening documentaries by Frederick Wiseman who will be unspooling “Boxing Gym” and Stephan Kijak who will be showing his Rolling Stones doc “Stones In Exile.” Full line up after the jump.
