Got a Tip?

Cannes Directors’ Fortnight Line-Up Includes ‘The Lighthouse’ With Robert Pattinson & Willem Dafoe & A New Luca Guadagnino Movie

The official line-up for the 2019 Cannes Film Festival is out. And while many are still waiting to hear word whether Quentin Tarantino‘s “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” will premiere or not—it’s apparently not entirely done yet and rushing to be completed on time—at least we’re getting some additional announcements while we wait.

Today, Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight sidebar, the Quinzaine des Réal, as it’s known in France unveiled its line-up, and it’s quite stellar. The biggest highlight that jumps put is “The Lighthouse,” the follow up to Robert Eggers’ critically acclaimed arthouse horror “The Witch.” Starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe, “The Lighthouse,” tells the story of an aging lighthouse keeper named Old who lives in early 20th-century Maine. Paolo Moretti, the new director of the Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight organization, described the movie as a “hypnotic two-hander.”

Also of note is a new film by Luca Guadagnino (“Suspiria,” “Call Me By Your Name“), but a “medium-length” effort called, “The Staggering Girl.” Starring Julianne Moore, Mia Goth, KiKi Layne, Kyle MacLachlan, and Alba Rohrwacher, “The Staggering Girl” will have its world premiere in the special screenings section of Directors’ Fortnight, along with the international premiere of Robert Rodriguez’s “Red 11.”
