By Sea, Land & Air: It’s The New Trailer For ‘The Adventures Of Tintin’

“Action-packed, gorgeous, and faithfully whimsical”
“…simply amazing…”
“…visually alive…”
“…lovingly detailed…”

Those are just some of the words of praise that have been showered on “The Adventures Of Tintin” in the early reviews for Steven Spielberg‘s film as it gears up to open overseas next week. But for those of us anxiously awaiting the film stateside, a smashing new trailer has arrived and it gives us another exciting peek at the epic adventure that awaits us. If you were already anticipating the film, this new spot will take that feeling and push it right over the top.

Boasting a script by the trio of Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright (”Hot Fuzz,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World”) and Joe Cornish (”Attack the Block”), the picture finds Spielberg and producer Peter Jackson mo-capping the cast of Jamie Bell, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, Andy Serkis, Mackenzie Crook and more, animating them and creating something that is vibrantly full of life and verve. Yes, the Robert Zemeckis comparisons will be made, and they are hard to avoid, because everything that he seemed to fall short on, Spielberg and the team at WETA have knocked out of the park, creating a world and characters that feel lived in and full realized, rather than atmosphere of alien digital coldness. As for the story itself, it finds Tintin and his pal Snowy teaming with Captain Haddock to find a treasure buried with a sunken ship, but of course, their journey takes them from city streets to the sea and out to the desert.

It looks like a boatload of fun and we can’t wait to strap in…but wait we will. “The Adventures of Tintin” starts rolling out internationally on October 26th, and will eventually hit the U.S. on December 21st. [via Awards Daily]
