Got a Tip?

‘BRZRKR’: Keanu Reeves Says He’s Considering Directing The Upcoming Comic Book Film

It’s been more than a year-and-a-half since the news that Keanu Reeves was developing a film based on his own comic book, “BRZRKR.” Since then, we found out that “The Batman” co-writer, Mattson Tomlin, was involved in crafting the script. However, no announcement has been made about who might direct. And apparently, that might be because Reeves is considering taking on that role himself.

Speaking to Collider, Keanu Reeves confirmed that he’s considering directing the live-action “BRZRKR” film. The feature is based on the comic book of the same name that Reeves co-created and co-wrote alongside Matt Kindt. “BRZRKR” tells the story of an immortal man that always finds himself compelled by violence and bloodshed. Reeves is already attached to star in the film.

The actor confirmed that Tomlin’s script has been written, but he hasn’t read it just yet. And if the script is something he’s drawn to, Reeves would consider directing it himself.

“I got it yesterday or two days ago. I haven’t read it yet.” Reeves said. He added that he and the producers aren’t sure if this script will be the final take on the film, but the actor claimed that there’s a “33%” chance that he will take on the directing duties.

He continued, “I know how it’s a lot of work, but the film that I directed, ‘Man of Tai Chi,’ was born, I became the director because I was part of the writing process, and I didn’t want to hand it over. I was like, oh, okay. I have to direct this. I’m not quite there yet on ‘BRZRKR’. I have to read the script, but I’m also interested in having a collaborator and what they could bring to it.”

As Reeves mentioned, he previously directed the feature, “Man of Tai Chi,” which was released in 2013. That film earned pretty favorable reviews but didn’t do well at the box office. Since then, the actor hasn’t stepped behind the camera for another feature.

Perhaps his deep relationship with “BRZRKR” is what it will take to give him the inspiration to step behind the camera again. We’ll have to wait and see.
