Juliette Binoche, Gérard Depardieu, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Nicolas Duvauchelle, Josiane Balasko, and Xavier Beauvois star in the loose adaptation of philosopher Roland Barthes’ “A Lover’s Discourse: Fragments,” which follows Isabelle, a divorced, single mother, who searches for romantic and sexual fulfillment. Unfortunately, for the usually terrific Denis, this one misses the mark, with Jessica Kiang writing in her review that the film is an “unprecedented misfire” by the director.
“Bright Sunshine In” will screen at the New York Film Festival, and be released in the U.S. by Sundance Selects. No date has been set just yet. [Cine Maldito]
