Got a Tip?

Brie Larson Is Haunted By Her Past In First Trailer For ‘The Glass Castle’

You can’t outrun family, and that marks the central theme of “The Glass Castle,” the adaptation of the best-selling memoir by Jeannette Walls, that will offer a bit of counter-programming this summer.

Brie Larson takes the lead role, reteaming with “Short Term 12” director Destin Daniel Cretton, in the film which tracks Walls’ wild upbringing and how she reconciled with it as an adult. And the author hopes people can relate to her journey.

“I hope that in seeing my story, it makes people think about what they’ve been through,” Walls told People. “I think that’s the magic of storytelling — if one person is willing to be brave and tell their story, then that allows other people to be honest. I think there’s incredible value in coming to terms with your story, and I hope that the telling of my story will encourage other people to revisit their own.”

Co-starring Woody Harrelson, Naomi Watts, and Max Greenfield, “The Glass Castle” opens on August 11th.
