Yesterday, FX decided to release a schedule of the premieres for its upcoming selection of shows that are debuting between now and May. And there are some pretty incredible shows amongst those offerings, including Alex Garland’s “Devs,” the Chris Rock-led “Fargo,” and “Mrs. America,” starring Cate Blanchett. But perhaps flying under the radar, and wrongfully so, is “Breeders.”

Starring Martin Freeman as a father that is about to lose his mind, “Breeders” looks like it could be one of the funniest, most interesting series to debut in 2020. The premise is fairly simple — a couple of attractive Brits get together, fall in love, and push out a couple of little ones. But the story shows that the idyllic life that you imagine when you’re about to become parents isn’t nearly the truth. Basically, if you ever wanted to see Freeman tell a couple of young kids to shut up (including a nice F-bomb), “Breeders” is that show.

Joining Freeman in the cast is Daisy Haggard, as his lovely wife that is going to lose her mind, as well. “Breeders” is showrun by Simon Blackwell, who is probably best known for his various writing gigs, including on the series “Veep” and the recent film “The Personal History of David Copperfield.”
“Breeders” arrives on FX and FX on Hulu on March 2.
Here’s the synopsis:
FX’s Breeders is an uncompromising comedy that explores the lives of Paul (Martin Freeman) and Ally (Daisy Haggard) as they juggle full-time careers, aging parents, a mortgage and the unenviable curveballs of parenting their young children. When Ally’s estranged father appears on their doorstep, the family essentially takes on a third child – but this one comes with baggage and opinions.
