Update: The Heat Vision Blog post has come back online and hasn’t changed any. The only additional news is franchise writers Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot have completed a script which must be good news for director Rob Marshall, who just a couple of weeks ago said he hadn’t seen one. Filming will take place this summer in Hawaii.
Posted briefly on The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog and then removed (but still alive thanks to Google Reader), the trade is reporting that Penelope Cruz is in negotiations to join Johnny Depp in “Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”
Earlier today we reported that rumors of Cruz joining Lars Von Trier’s “Planet Melancholia” were quashed by the film’s producers citing scheduling conflicts. Could this be the reason why?
Here’s what we were able to snag from Google Reader. Updates to follow:
Penelope Cruz is in negotiations to join Johnny Depp and sail the seven seas in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” the fourth installment of the movie series being directed by Rob Marshall. Depp is reprising…
Update: Latino Review copied and pasted the entire post in their initial story before it was pulled down (uhhh…). Cruz’s role is being kept under wraps and so is the story, but it’s apparently supposed to center around the Fountain of Youth. Remember when this was just a Disney theme park ride and not a movie? Sigh…
If it weren't for Rob Marshall directing I would have said for sure this would be better than Pirates 2 and 3, but, ah, who knows. If the writers come up with a more focused story, I'd say it'll be a winner. The narrative possibilities of the Fountain of Youth has always intrigued me.
