For the filmgoing public who wasted their $12 this weekend on seeing the not-so-ironic or funny warmed over ’80s action retread “The Expendables” instead of “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World,” not only did they miss out on a much better film, they also missed a scene-stealing Brandon Routh as super-vegan evil ex-boyfriend #3 Todd Ingram.
Ok, and while Todd Ingram couldn’t stop Scott Pilgrim from getting the girl, perhaps Dylan Dog might have. Portrayed by Routh in the forthcoming “Dead Of Night,” the film is based on an Italian comic by Tiziano Sclavi about a paranormal investigator who lives in a world where zombies can openly shop for replacement parts and werewolves abound.
The trailer for the film actually doesn’t look that bad, but we have to admit we did get a bit bored before it ended. That said Routh does look very good in the lead role and we hope the film sticks with its not-so-serious tone.
The film co-stars Sam Huntington, Anita Briem and Taye Diggs and was directed by Kevin Munroe who helmed the animated “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” a film that has its champions in certain quarters. No release dates have been firmed up yet. [FirstShowing]
No one cares about Brandon Routh.
You just opened a huge can of Scott Pilgrim hate from our lamer commenters, you know.
Looks like warmed over Made-for-TV garbage.
Routh is a terrible actor. The harsh lighting is giving me '90s TV vibes. So much second hand embarrassment for Taye Diggs.
Rupert Everett already did a great job. The Dylan Dog character was apparently based on him. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109592/
