Wes Anderson’s ‘The French Dispatch’: Brad Pitt Is Out But Léa Seydoux Will Star In The Upcoming Film

The drama of will he or won’t he is finally over. And sadly, it’s a pass for Brad Pitt in the new Wes Anderson film, “The French Dispatch.”

According to French publication Charente Libre, Pitt is a no-go for the upcoming Anderson film that is currently shooting in the city of Angoulême. So, film fans that were hoping for a real team-up between the filmmaker and the A-list actor are going to have to wait just a little bit longer. Or you know, you could just keep watching the SoftBank commercial that Pitt starred in that was directed by Anderson on a loop for the next year.

However, the report does come with a bit of good news. Léa Seydoux, who has been another actor that is rumored to be part of the cast, has been confirmed as starring in “The French Dispatch.” The French star has been a recent addition to Wes Anderson’s acting troupe, but as he does with most of his core group, the director has decided to bring Seydoux back into the fold for the film.

Previously, Seydoux has worked with Anderson on the film “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and did some of the French dubbing for his most recent effort, “Isle of Dogs.” In addition to those films, the actress is probably best known for her role in “Blue is the Warmest Colour,” as well as the films “Spectre” and most recently “Kursk.”

As mentioned, filming has already begun on “The French Dispatch,” with the shoot expected to last well into 2019. While a release date hasn’t been announced, it’s widely speculated that the film will debut in France at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, which obviously would be fitting.
