There are horror movies, and then there are Rob Zombie horror movies, which tend to push the envelope right to the bloody, extreme edge. And it seems that’s no different with his upcoming “31.” While it premiered to little fanfare earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, horror buffs looking for a distraction from the awards season this fall will probably be well served.

Starring Sheri Moon Zombie, Malcom McDowell, Meg Foster, Elizabeth Daily, Sandra Rosko, and Richard Brake, the movie finds a bunch of carnival workers fighting for survival from a sadistic madman. Here’s the official synopsis:
From the visionary mind of Rob Zombie comes the horrific story of five carnival workers who are kidnapped the night before Halloween and held hostage in a large compound. At the mercy of their captors, they are forced to play a twisted game or life or death called 31. For the next 12 hours they must fight for their lives against an endless parade of homicidal maniacs.
“31” opens on October 21st.
